Lakeland Motor Museum The Lakeland Motor Museum nestles in the picturesque Leven Valley, close to the southern tip of Lake Windermere. The collection of over 30,000 exhibits traces over 100 years of road transport history and provides a fascinating insight into our forefathers' inventiveness and dexterity. This intriguing museum, oozes nostalgia and offers an enjoyable 'whatever the weather', all year venue, which entertains and enthrals all ages. A complimentary children's quiz is available as a fun challenge to seek, observe and record findings. We offer 'something for everyone', and the visitor offering is really much more than just a motor museum. There are numerous interesting stories, with many being rooted in the local area, including; Early Motoring in the English Lake District, a typical 1930's Westmorland garage re-creation and the Campbell Blubird Exhibition. Our Leven Valley Heritage Centre is an integral part of an overall amazing experience and tells about life in the Backbarrow Blue Mill, the gunpowder mills, the iron works and woodland industries. Immediately adjacent to the museum is the stunning Cafe Ambio, with riverside seating. Spectacular views over the river can be savoured. Love to shop?
