Helena Thompson Museum (Allerdale Borough Council)

Set in a fine Georgian House are displays of decorative arts, furniture, period costume, and local history including coal mining, shipbuilding and the iron and steel industry, for which Workington became world renowned.  The ‘Georgian Room’ highlights the taste and style of nearly 200 years ago.  Temporary exhibition programme.

Free admission.

The A66 from the M6 (J40) leads straight into Workington past the museum, first left after the Stainburn school roundabout, and Workington Hall.
