The Dock Museum

A unique building in a stunning coastal setting built within a Victorian dry dock.

The museum tells the story of Barrow and its rapid growth from a small farming village in the early nineteenth century, to a town framed throughout the world for its industrial production and innovation.

Displays include our new film show, a collection of spectacular ship models, interactive computer kiosks, Shipbuilders to the World and the social history of Barrow.  Our landscaped waterfront site has an adventure playground and walkways linked to the Cumbria Coastal Way.

Strollers coffee shop offers a tempting range of meals and home made cakes.  A vibrant exhibitions and events programme is scheduled throughout the year.  The museum offers access for all and provides wheelchairs, hearing loops, Braille and adapted toilets.
