Border and King's Own Border Regiment Museum

The Museum tells the story of Cumbria’s County Infantry Regiment and local Militia, Volunteer and Territorial units from 1702 to the present day and is located within the magnificent surroundings of Carlisle’s medieval castle, the Regiment’s home since 1873.  Two floors of displays including uniforms, weapons, equipment, medals, silver, pictures, memorabilia and dioramas reflect the Regiment’s long and distinguished history of service all over the world and in many theatres of war from Burma to Bosnia.

The Museum maintains an archive which is available by appointment and enquiries are welcome.  School visits are welcome and handling sessions provided on request.  Pre-booked educational visits in term time are free.
