Dove Cottage, The Wordsworth Museum & Art Gallery William Wordsworth fell in love with Dove Cottage while on a walking holiday with his friend and fellow poet, Samuel Taylor in 1799. Within a few months he had moved into it with his sister, Dorothy and thus started his happiest and most inspired years. You can visit the inspirational home of Britain's best-loved poet, where he wrote "I wandered Lonely as a Cloud", the most famous poem in the English language. - Take an informative and entertaining guided tour of Dove Cottage. - Visit the Wordsworth Museum and see displays about his life, his friends and his inspiration. - Experience special exhibitions and events in the Art Gallery and contemporary art gallery 3 degrees W. - Attend readings by contemporary poets of their own work from May-Oct (see our website, What's On page for details. - Excite your childrens' imagination with holiday activities and our educational programme in the Foyle room.
