Ruskin Museum “the most thought-provoking in the Lakes” Coniston’s award-winning, innovative, interactive, serendipitous Cabinet of Curiosities provides the perfect introduction to: John Ruskin, 1819-1900, artist, critic, millennial prophet, whose radical political economy inspired the Welfare State and so much of the British way of life; the geology, mines and quarries of the Coniston fells; Arthur Ransome’s Swallows and Amazons country; Donald Campbell’s world water speed records in Bluebird; Herdwicks, charr and Ruskin Lace. Construction of the Bluebird Wing is due to start Spring 2008; K7 should be on view late Summer 2009.
