Blackwell, The Arts and Crafts House Blackwell is an exquisite example of Arts and Crafts architecture. It is the largest and most important surviving masterpiece by the architect MH Baillie Scott (1865-1945). Inspired by Lakeland wild flowers, trees, berries and birds Baillie Scott designed every last detail of this treasure trove of the Arts and Crafts Movement, as can be seen by it's beautifully restored interiors. Inside you will find a symphony of stained glass, oak panelling, intricate plasterwork and fanciful metalwork. Blackwell also provides the perfect setting for changing exhibitions of the highest quality historic and contemporary craft and applied arts. Outside, from the garden terraces you can enjoy the wonderful views of Windermere and the Coniston fells. Open
