The Ashton Group

The Ashton Group is a theatre company based in Barrow-in-Furness in south west Cumbria. We commission and produce new plays for national touring and create a wide range of new writing based theatre projects in our local community as well. 

The company believes that theatre is a vibrant and important part of our culture, that it’s is the most public of all art forms, there to be shared by everyone and that at its heart is the writer. 

Our work appears in a wide range of venues from metropolitan culture houses to community centres in marginalized areas of the country. But whatever the venue, we are committed to introducing new writers to audiences and in particular those whose voice expresses contemporary northern experience.
