Fold

Fold is an artist-led organisation, which aims to provide and promote access to contemporary art in the rural environment. We do this through a programme of exhibitions in our gallery space in Kirkby Stephen and through largescale intervention projects across the Rural North of England. Our main project over the past 5 years has been the annual FRED art invasion – Europe’s largest annual event of site-specific work. We are also a founding partner in GreenCube – a centre for critical dialogue for rural artists, and have an active cultural exchange programme with artist-led initiatives in Shanghai, on the opposite end of the urban / rural divide.
