Sedbergh Book Town Literary Trust

Sedbergh Book Town Literary Trust is a charity which exists to provide education around facility in language for everyone, this means local people and visitors.  This very vague description actually gives us tremendous scope for producing all types of spectacular events such as festivals of books, literature and philosophy or workshops and seminars for people of all ages and abilities to help them improve their creative writing.  In practice we have offered a literary experience of some sort to around 17,000 people over the last 7 years.
  
The charity is still comparatively new but its two major events, the Festivals of Ideas in July and Books and Drama in September are now well attended and fixed in the county calendar.

The Charity and the Book Town it is part of demonstrate just one aspect of Sedbergh, England’s Book Town, which is growing into a visitor attraction with 7 collector’s book shops and importantly some of the best tea and coffee shops in the north of England.

The entire Book Town project seeks to build a long term identity for Sedbergh which will enhance the lives of the community and support its businesses for years to come.
