WHAT HAVE WE DONE SINCE 2005?
Since 2005 Cumbria County Council has achieved the funding for and delivery of the following:- - developed a comprehensive database of dance artists/practitioners/teachers based in Cumbria
- disseminated quarterly briefings to Cumbria dance sector
- disseminated termly dance briefings to all Cumbria's schools
- organised a conference, Achieving Excellence in Dance for school teachers and dance artists
- expanded the ACE Dance Festival for schools countywide
- delivered an 18 month European funded professional development programme to 41 dancers countywide
- fundraised for and appointed 3 Youth Dance Workers (1 full time and 2 part time) who work across Eden, Carlisle, Allerdale & Copeland
- fundraised for the ongoing role of the Dance Co-ordinator
- secured Arts Council funding to support the Youth Dance Programme, a dance and disability project, and a dance project working with young people at risk of re-offending.
- created 4 youth dance companies, 2 junior dance clubs, 1 infant dance club, 2 regular adult classes, and a mixed programme of open workshops for young people
- worked with 6,500 young people
- led 10 INSET sessions for teachers
